Kipepeo Foundation is a small family charity supporting Africans in their initiatives to improve education and sports facilities for orphaned and disadvantaged children. We aim to reduce marketing and administrative overheads by emphasising direct personal connections and involvement in small projects. To ensure long-term sustainability of our projects and contribution from the local community, we sponsor only projects started by the Africans. We believe that developing opportunities that the community considers valuable makes a bigger difference than financing our ideas, no matter how grand. We operate in the Likoni slum near Mombasa, Kenya.

All roofs at St Bernard Academy have been replaced.
The school now has a new "assembley courtyard" which also serves as a playground.
A new nursery was built.
The classes immediately next to the road have been moved so the children are no longer disturbed by the noise from the shops and have more peace and quiet for learning.
Your donations help with the school cashflow so that all staff can be paid.
Your donations bought footballs and volleyballs for the children .
Your donations covered Ritah's and Justus's school fees.
Your donations improved lives of the orphans from the Mombasa/Likoni slum.
We are now registered with mydonate so giftaid can be collected. Please use this button to go to our page there:
We send all your donations to Kenya via Western Union
----------------------------------
- building repair
- classroom enhancement (floors and blackboards fix)
- school library and teaching aids (wall maps, charts, educational posters etc.)
- computer classes
- PE classes (balls, bats, racquets etc.)
To give you an idea, to build an entire slum school costs around 7000 GBP.
Sponsoring children:
-------------------------
Orphans who want to continue their studies at secondary schools and universities need a sponsor. A year at a secondary school in Kenya costs approx. 350 GBP. Living expenses amount to another approx. 300 GBP. Universities are more expensive, depending on subject studied and the location.
It certainly isn’t necessary to pay the whole sum. Any amount will be appreciated!
Material gifts:
----------------
People often ask whether they may donate material gifts. It is certainly possible, although I would recommend only donation of things difficult to obtain locally.
- maps
- calculators
- English learners dictionaries
- laptops, cameras
- children's books (not school books, unless they are Kenyan school books)
Please only donate what can be easily transported.
This year we learnt the hard way that dumping taxes imposed on some used good may make material donations not worth considering.
